Pickfords return

Pickfords return

Pickford builders were recently appointed to carry out reinstatement works to a property near Takeley in Essex, where a pipe burst during the temperature plunge brought to us by the Beast from the East.

The water from the loft cascaded down through the walls of the old traditional lime plastered timber frame walls and ceilings, affecting the wood panelling in the old main Hall.

Pickford builders tendered and won the contract for the repairs from Barker Associates LLP in Braintree. Our team of tradesmen arrived on site and met the homeowners and were pleased to hear that the homeowner not only already knew of Pickford Builders, but that we had in fact worked there before! We were even more impressed when he produced an album of photo’s showing the old Pickfords workforce in action. The dates are uncertain but we think this was sometime at the end of the 1970’s. The only names we have been able to attribute to the builders are Cecil Coppin and Dave Collins – we are looking into it further.

The client was very happy to have us back and said the old team had done a great job and he was pleased to see we still kept up the same high standards.
